The new Partnership for Dietetic Education and Practice
(PDEP) builds on the insights and efforts of many individuals and groups who
participated in meetings and dialogue throughout 2008. Facilitated by Dietitians of Canada, educators
engaged in dialogue and planning to create a new partnership approach to
support collective efforts related to dietetic education as needed to move
forward on Vision 2020. The need for dietetic educators and programs to be
better supported to work collaboratively with Dietitians of Canada as the professional
association and education program accrediting body, and with regulatory bodies
was identified. As a separate initiative
in November 2008, the Alliance of Canadian Dietetic Regulatory Bodies hosted a
meeting with educators and Dietitians of Canada to clarify roles and
responsibilities and to identify issues, opportunities and strategies for
collaboration to support dietetic education, regulation and development of the
profession.
